A short film, commissioned by Somerset’s Lord Lieutenant, shows how the people of Somerset celebrated this remarkable and historic milestone.
On 6th February 2022 Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch in our history to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.
Throughout the year, Her Majesty and members of the Royal Family have travelled & continue to journey around the country undertaking a variety of engagements marking this unique occasion.
The highlight of the year has been the focal point of celebrations during the amazing Platinum Jubilee weekend in June. Please watch the video showing a snapshot of how, across the County, communities in Somerset celebrated this historic occasion.
As the summer moves to winter the Queen’s Green Canopy programme builds again as we all have the opportunity to plant a tree(s) to mark this very special Jubilee year.

Our Lieutenancy is proud to support The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC), a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, which invites the United Kingdom to “Plant a tree for the jubilee”.
