The Lieutenancy was hugely honoured to be part of D-Day commemorative events across Somerset – from Glastonbury to Whitchurch, from Taunton to Winscombe.  Lord-Lieutenant Mohammed Saddiq joined the commemoration event at the top of Glastonbury Tor.  It culminated with a beacon lighting at 9pm by Preb David MacGeoch, Vicar of Glastonbury.  The Lord-Lieutenant spoke about the bravery of the D-Day veterans which, he said, had secured freedom for future generations.
