People across the UK, the Commonwealth and across the world are invited to map their memories of Britain’s longest reigning monarch.
Today, 2nd June 2026, marks the 71st anniversary of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, alongside the launch of a new website mapping key moments from her life and reign. The site will serve as a permanent record for future generations.
The Queen Elizabeth Digital Memorial is a new initiative, led by the Cabinet Office and the Queen Elizabeth Memorial Committee, to celebrate the life and legacy of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Communities and organisations from all corners of the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and across the world are being encouraged to share their personal memories of Queen Elizabeth II, helping to enrich this living memorial and ensure it truly reflects her remarkable life and legacy.
In addition, the project highlights key moments, places and contributions from the late Queen’s reign, offering a rich, accessible record of national and local significance.
The Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset is encouraging communities and organisations across the county of Somerset to take part by sharing their personal reflections, ensuring the county’s connections to Her Majesty form part of this national tribute.
