Vice Lord-Lieutenant Ted Allen represented the Lord-Lieutenant at a carol service ‘Together at Christmas’ in The Minster, Taunton. The theme of the service was ‘Empathy’, a concept initiated by HRH The Princess of Wales, who herself was hosting a similar service at the same time in Westminster Abbey. Somerset  was selected as one of 15 regions across the UK to host this event and in Taunton there were more than 400 representatives from charities and volunteer organisations from across Somerset. It was a chance to say ‘Thank you’ for all they do to support other people at times of need.
