From Ted Allen, Vice Lord-Lieutenant: I recently attended a reception in the Undercroft and a concert in the Quire of Wells Cathedral. This was to mark the refurbishment appeal reaching half way towards the target of £2m. The range of capacity was made clear with organ solos & duets, accompanying trumpet players from Wells Cathedral School and the Cathedral Chamber Choir. There was also a full explanation of the extent of the repairs required by the Assistant Director of Music, Carolyn Craig. It was a moving and poignant event. Picture one is with Michael Hopkins, Chair of the Friends of Wells Cathedral Organ and the other shows the scale of the organ, taken from the Quire.
